In September 2025, Michelin achieved a significant milestone in its India journey with the roll-out of its first Made-in-India premium passenger car tyres from its Chennai facility. The milestone event marked the commencement of commercial production, with tyres set to be available in the Indian market from Q2 2026. This development follows Michelin’s increased investment of nearly INR 686 crores in the Chennai plant, reinforcing its commitment to local manufacturing and aligning with its global “local-to-local” strategy of producing closer to key markets.

The rollout reflects Michelin’s focus on catering to India’s rapidly premiumising automotive landscape, particularly the growing demand for high-performance tyres in the SUV and luxury segments. As part of this strategy, Michelin is also strengthening its retail footprint and customer experience across the country, with over 45 new Tyres & Services dealerships added in 2025. The Chennai facility, one of Michelin’s greenest globally, underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing, combining advanced technology with environmentally responsible operations.
