Two Michelin patented technologies introduced for the first time in commercial vehicle tyres in India

Made exclusively for India

MICHELIN, the world’s leading tyre technology leader today launched the MICHELIN X® Guard™ radial truck tyre that is exclusively designed, engineered and made for India. Targeted at the price-sensitive general goods carriers and medium and long haul transporters, Michelin X Guard is a longer-lasting, more fuel efficient, lighter and more robust tyre*. With this new tyre, Michelin is making an entry in the mass market segment of commercial vehicle tyres in India.

Mohan Kumar, Commercial Director, Michelin India said: “The new Michelin X Guard is a demonstration of the commitment of the Michelin Group to bring the most advanced tyre technologies to India. The Indian market is rapidly evolving and to win in this exciting market place, it was important for us to adapt to the customer’s changing needs. Michelin X Guard, built exclusively for the Indian market, is a paradigm shift from the Indian consumer’s view point. This product is a true reflection of the ‘more for less for more' philosophy that combines the best of Michelin proprietary technologies to deliver a high quality product, but at an attractive market price. We expect this product to attract more customers to our brand”.

Michelin is initially deploying limited quantities of this new product in eight states over the coming year, before expanding it to the entire country.

Michelin X-Guard comes with unique technologically advanced features which provide benefits including improved performance, fuel efficiency and safety. Latest material solutions and 3D printing technologies have enabled Michelin to produce a tyre that is 18%* lighter, yet delivers on robustness and returns better performance on tyre mileage and fuel efficiency. The two Michelin patented technologies that have been leveraged for the first time in India to create X Guard are:-

1. Infinicoil Technology™: One key to the performance of X Guard is Infinicoil Technology™. This technology, which is used in high-end Michelin truck tyres, has been adapted in the Indian context to fortify the tyre from inside, helping it become a robust but much lighter tyre.

2. Regenion Technology™: This patented technology enables the tyre to self-regenerate its tread, meaning new grooves appear as it wears out. This technology helps X Guard to deliver enhanced grip over the life of the tyre and boost tyre mileage significantly.

Pricing and availability

The MICHELIN X® Guard™ radial truck tyre is priced at  INR 18,500 (including tube, flap and taxes) and is available through the authorised Michelin dealer network in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh Telangana and West Bengal.

* Compared to Michelin 10.00R20 XZY3 tube type tyre, under Michelin recommended driving conditions and terms of usage.

MICHELIN, the world’s leading tyre technology leader today announced the launch of its first television commercial in the country. Themed ‘Safely Ahead’ this pan India campaign with the iconic Michelin man will make its debut on Indian television channels soon.

The campaign, which has been produced for Television as well as for digital advertising, will highlight Michelin’s ability to provide safer mobility for motorcyclists and scooter riders thanks to its technological knowhow and its 125-year history of delivering landmark innovations.

The campaign centers around three elements that Indian riders negotiate daily while using their motorcycles and scooters:

Bad roads: dictate the fitment of robust tyres.

Wet roads: require good grip.

Braking: stopping ability to minimise braking distances.

During the unveiling of the campaign in Mumbai India, Gary Guthrie President of Michelin 2-Wheel Tyre Division, said: “We recognize that the young generation of India today, are always mobile and desire better and safer performance from their bikes. Our Michelin Man, ’Safely Ahead’ campaign illustrates how our two wheel tyres designed specifically for Indian riders, comes with unbeatable all-round safety, road-holding, braking and overall riding pleasure that they expect from Michelin.” He further added, “One of our strategic two wheel growth objective in India is to strengthen our position in one of the fastest growing markets in the world. The ‘Safely Ahead’ campaign is an effort towards achieving this key objective."

The TV advertisements will be seen on major national cable networks in India that would include general entertainment, movies and sports channels. It will also be aired on major regional channels across the country.

The campaign was conceptualized by Publicis India. In Efecto, the French 3D animated film specialist executed the animation.

Along with quality guaranteed fitments, Michelin branded tyres are now closer to the Indian consumer through easily accessible dealers

Michelin, the world’s tyre technology leader, today launched the internationally acclaimed premium range SUV tyres in India, the MICHELIN Latitude Sport 3. Offering an uncompromising safe and silent ride, the tyre helps the company further strengthen its product portfolio in India that offers more driving pleasure and maximum performance for the discerning Indian owners of SUVs and CUVs.

The new Latitude Sport 3 (LS3) is the third generation of Latitude on-road SUV and CUV tyres in the Michelin line-up. The design of the new tyre conveys an image of power and control and is capable of supporting the vehicle weight and driver expectations with enhanced safety performance, while delivering outstanding grip on all types of on-road surfaces.

LS3 stops 2.70 meters shorter on wet roads with 4% improvement in dry braking and is more fuel efficient because of 25% reduction in rolling resistance than the previous generation tyre*. The tyre provides high level of comfort and maximum torque transfer when braking or accelerating, thus improving steering precision.

LS3 features a unique tread pattern with variable tread blocks ensuring a silent and comfortable ride.
